A Mile Wide, A Mile Deep? Too many ECs?

Hi!
I'm really confused. People say that you should devote a lot of time, and have leadership in a few ECs, rather than a 'fly on the wall' in a bunch, but I am editor of YB, Class President, a Chorus Soloist, and 3rd Chair in the Violin 1 Section of the Orchestra. I plan on doing Debate Club in HS, as well as Tennis and Track. What is your opinion on this? Thanks.

It’s fine. Do what you like. You have some control over how you present yourself.

@BrownParent Okay, thank you. I was just confused. Do you think that would change depending on what colleges I plan on applying to?

You are fine, all of those things are meaningful and/or useful activities. Don’t get too hung up by made up rules. Look at the accepted student threads coming out now and you will see people with similar. The point is to persue your interests.

I understand. Thank you for clearing that up, it was really helpful!
