A Month Long Thread, December, What Brings You Joy (in your day)?

Today marks the 4 month anniversary of me breaking both feet and 1 ankle. Had an appointment with the surgeon this morning, and I am now wearing TWO shoes for the first time since August 9th

Selecting a giving tree tag at church. This year I selected one for girls L and XL shirts for the local school district to have on hand when students need them. With 3 boys I never bought girls clothes so I’m looking forward to shopping tomorrow.

I’m not sure if this is joy or disbelief, but I just paid the last college bill for the last kid. :astonished:

Finding joy in the utter silence in my house right now after hours and hours and hours of listening to neighbors’ leaf blowing all day long today.

My new found miracle product - pre-wound bobbins. I just love them. Last night I just sewed and sewed and never ran out of bobbin thread.

Bonus happiness today - took the dog to the dog park. We’ve only had him since March but he hadn’t been to the off leash park yet because he’s a wild man and we weren’t sure he’d stop running and come back to the car. At first he kept turning around and following other dogs to the exit (like the other 4 dogs weren’t enough for him to play with he need to make new friends) but I put him on the leash of shame and walked him to the back where he was able to stay near us. He’s now down for the night as he was exhausted.

My big joy was having S, D and fiancée have a great time together and genuinely enjoy each other’s company as well as our company! It doesn’t get better than that for me!

This morning, the snow brings me joy. It’s not a lot, but it’s more than a dusting … yet not enough that driving is a hassle or shoveling is needed. Just enough to be festive!

One of my favorite mugs (filled with coffee!)

I remember when I saw this in a store - I was drawn to the words and colors. But I didn’t really need any more new mugs! I walked out of the store…and then right back in again. :face_holding_back_tears:

Moving to a new community means you get an extra part-time job - finding new health care providers . I have been seeing a wonderful specialist related to a problem that was incorrectly diagnosed before I moved. Loved this provider from the get-go when he explained why my problem was minor, not major and then changed meds to deal with it. Almost immediate results and now a few visits later, including yesterday, he told me I was putting him out of business and to come see him in a year. That directive was the joy of my day yesterday.

My husband is an (early) morning person and gets out of bed about an hour before me. He is quiet and I rarely hear him get up. But within a few minutes, my dog, who sleeps on a dog bed next to ours, hops up on the bench at the end of our bed, then onto our bed, curling up in the warm spot my husband has left behind. When she hops up on the bench, the knock of the wood wakes me up and I know without opening my eyes she is curling up next to me. She never tries to leave the room with DH, she stays on her bed until he is gone, before jumping up into bed with me. Brings me joy every morning knowing she is there next to me, waiting patiently until I get up later.

Every Sunday, weather permitting, our pup walk is a longer one than the work week allows and is near the water. I SO look forward to this walk that is not as rushed as during the week, is not as much on a schedule as during the week, etc. I think even my pup looks forward to it because when we go down the street he wants to “hang a left” at the point we head to the water!

It’s been so gloomy but the hazy sun was out for a short bit this morning - we caught it in time!

SIL’s parents made their Christmas visit this weekend and I was able to join D, SIL, GD & the in-laws for dinner and Christmas lights at Cheekwood. Delightful!

Feeling joyful that it has finally gotten cold enough to start using all the firewood delivered last month. We enjoyed our first fire last night, which really starts getting me in the mood for Christmas.

Yesterday, a stranger gave me a free ticket to an event I really wanted to attend. At the spur of the moment, I said yes and had the time of my life
