DH just got our wood boiler going for the first time. Oil is so expensive that we have to keep the thermostat really low until it’s cold enough to burn wood. Our wood boiler is so efficient that it has to be really cold to use it.
Planning travel often brings me joy, especially when it’s freezing cold out and I’m planning trips for nice weather. I may be crazy, but I like reading about places, deciding where to go, trying to figure out what to do when we are there, things like that. If it has to be done in a hurry it’s not so fun, or if I’m trying to plan with people I don’t know well, but when it’s the family, I actually enjoy it.
Finding my favorite eggnog at the store.
Me too. Thinking about a summer beach trip when it’s cold and grey out helps brighten things a bit.
From October through April, my electric blanket brings me joy by warming my bed before I crawl in.
Yesterday, after getting my mother up, washed, dressed, and fed post surgery for a broken kneecap that has left her bed/couch/wheelchair bound, I finally got a late morning cup of coffee. Then, the doorbell rang with a delivery of beautiful flowers from our deployed son with a note of love to his mom and speedy recovery wishes to gram. That brought me a good bit of joy.
Cara Cara oranges are back! Joy to my mouth!!!
Today’s joy was an invigorating long walk on a breezy, cold, almost winter day. I much prefer exercising in the cold than in the heat and humidity of summer. I got home feeling fresh and full of energy rather than drained and exhausted like I do in the summer.
Ooo, I’m the exact opposite. Hate getting out in the cold. Good thing I live in the South. Really prefer it to be 70º+.
So relieved and happy—we successfully transferred our domains from a reseller of godaddy to porkbun.com for significant savings and everything works! Yippee! This brings me great joy!
Great joy!
My daughter rang her bell today!!! More to go on her journey but this part is over!
We will see her Friday!
My grand dog now has a little back yard. She’s been living in the city, and almost NEVER got to go off leash. Now she can hang out unsupervised in “her” back yard. She’s 3/4 husky, so will really be happy when it snows. She is always so happy to see me it brings me 40+ pounds of exuberant joy.
@deb922 I don’t know you or your daughter, but this news brings ME joy too! Congratulations!
Oh, I am coveting your tree. We couldn’t find any that full & fat this year. Our tree is beautiful now that it’s decorated, but it’s not nearly as full & fat as past trees. H calls it our Charlie Brown tree.
We were quite joyful to be the ONLY people at the UPS store this afternoon.
Mailed of 2nd batch (4 more packages) rather quickly, after a long post office wait the other day. Interestingly the clerk said we had just missed a busy time, and when we left there were many other people lined up. And there was actually a local social media post this evening complaining about line etiquette at one of the UPS store. So yea, we got lucky.
Thankful that my youngest teen loved the Funko Pop Advent calendar and it brightened his day (which had been a little rough). He was genuinely excited and appreciative, too.
Thankful for my dog’s extra fluffy grooming that has him looking a bit like a sheepdog - so much soft fur!!!
A friend is driving to San Antonio tomorrow to get the good tamales and is picking up five dozen for me. Between tamales and the cookie thread I can feel the pounds adding up. Oh, well! 'Tis the season!
Ok, I’m curious. What were people doing on the line that got someone got hyped up enough to post about it on social media?
Happy to be eating lunch today with my daughter. She lives only 20 minutes from us, but she has three jobs so I don’t see her often. I’m going to pick her up at her workplace and we’ll go out.
