Wawa is good. Good “on the road” food at Sheetz too. In our area, Royal Farms has the best fried chicken.

Chick Filet just opened in my area - Bad food, over priced, and anti-gay = Bad Deal.

WaWa is headquartered in Delaware County (suburb of PHL) and was VERY local to the Philadelphia area for many years. It’s expanded, but not far enough!

Here in California, campuses show off their Jamba Juice or other smoothie places. Chipotle, Baja Fresh, and Panda Express stores are also favorites.

Okay, you got me curious. We’re going to the mall this weekend to visit the Apple Store and maybe we’ll stop and get a Chick Fil A and then split it to see what it’s like. I don’t recall them giving out free samples.

While I loved Chik-fil-A sandwiches at Harvard’s Science Center, they tend to be a bit salty and I’m not a big fan of their support of anti-gay busybodying groups.

Then again, I’ve also enjoyed attending a college where the local cafes/restaurants were more than enough for my culinary needs outside of the cafeteria. Still loved those BLT sandwiches with 3 pieces of pita and container of hummus at midnight…:)

My dad works in corporate for Wawa so DON’T SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT THE COMPANY OR I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN. Joking aside, it’s a shame Michigan doesn’t have any but hey, at least there is Starbucks and Panera.

@MomofWildChild, If you haven’t heard, Wawa is expanding down into Florida!

Around here, people drive past the 7-11/Cumberland Farms to head to Wawa. Wawa is cleaner, brighter, and better merchandised. Service is excellent. They are all about getting the customer in and out quickly.

For those of you around Orlando, Wawa is expanding into your area.

BC, get the original. It’s the no. 1 down here. You can have a grilled chicken breast sandwich anywhere, but it’s the fried one that’s made it famous.

Hmmmm, didn’t know the anti-gay-bashing stuff. Bummer.

I miss Church’s Fried Chicken. Fried okra in a fast food place, now that was awesome.

I miss fried okra!

Lost in this thread is the fact that there actually is a Chick-Fil-A on campus at Clemson

Check your frozen food section for fried okra. It may be a long shot in Maine, but we have it and it is good. Also okra is very easy to grow, I can’t believe how expensive fresh okra has become even in the south. Pickled okra is good, too.

Oh i make it at home - thank you!, I just loved being able to get it at a drive through :)

And by the way In-N-Out does not live up to the hype…just sayin.

Wawa and Panera in the same sentence? I love both (let’s hear it for Wawa in Ventnor, NJ!) but they are just different species!

My first stop when I get to Virginia. Southerners love their fried chicken. I would not move to any town without a Starbucks. For fast burgers I find In and Out EXCELLENT. Wish they would get to Washington. Or Virginia. Better than 5 Guys in my book.

That’s only true if you believe that gay people can in no way be part of a family.

My son is gay, I’d rather starve than eat there.

I once changed planes in Cincinnati (whose airport is actually in Kentucky, BTW) and called my mom in S.Carolina to tell her, “I must be in the south. They have a Chick Fil-A in the airport.”

I don’t know about their anti-gay stance, but the place I will never eat is Maurice’s Barbeque, in SC. I went in there once and saw the racist literature they have in an area called “The Truth Store.” (According to Maurice, slavery isn’t evil because it’s in the Bible). It’s too bad, because they make really good barbeque. ([Maurice’s Racist Barbeque | Eat It, Atlanta](http://www.eatitatlanta.com/2008/09/03/maurices-racist-barbeque/)),

When I first went to college in Pennsylvania, a sophomore friend asked me if I wanted to go with her to Wawa. I said yes, and was too embarrassed to ask what Wawa was. I thought it was a nickname for one of the frats! The one near my campus never impressed me.

PS - As a New Englander, I feel obligated to remind folks that Dunkin Donuts rules.

Waffle House.

Some friends from the Midwest slam the brakes and peel off the interstate as soon as they spot one.
