Is there a McDonald's near Brown?

'nuff said.

I agree, that's enough of a reason to avoid any school.

No. There is no fast food chain near Brown other than Subway. Chipotle is rumored to be coming to Thayer. There isn't even a McDonalds in the Providence Place mall and I can't think of any McDonalds that I've seen anywhere near here.

that makes me like Brown more for some reason

ditto. (10char)

This is a pathetic thread. I wonder how much the OP weighs.

It's not pathetic at all. Why spend 10 dollars on a Johnny Rocket burger with side? Fast food restaurants are for those with slim pockets.

no, a dining hall is for those with slim pockets

that said, wendy's >>>>>>>>>> mcdonald's

There's a Johnny Rockets on Thayer St., if you need to satisfy your burger cravings in a place other than the dining halls.

idontcare- I agree, it does make Brown even better.

Some of Brown's competitor schools also have no McDonalds near the campus. Sometimes it is the local zoning board that refuses all national fast food chains.
That doesn't seem to be the issue for Thayer St.

Providence has several McDonalds and other chains. It is not a big town, so one could walk or drive if determined to eat that food.

Mcdonalds sucks. I do occasionally go to Wendy's but its not worth crying about. Johnny Rockets is better.

there's a mcdonalds on south main street, not too far from campus (for the really committed).

Where on South Main? I swear I've never seen it and I've gone quite a ways in both directions...

Siserune, are you looking to replace posterx as worst troll on the boards?

meh, let's give siserune a chance. Granted, he does sound exactly like PosterX...

The Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich is the best meal in all of fast food.

sorry, it's north main actually. near miko's old location

To piggyback on your thread a bit, is there a place to get pearl milk tea near Brown?

That is the same as bubble tea, right?

I don't know of any places on college hill. I think Providence is kinda lacking in the Asian culture department, but maybe that's just because I grew up in the suburban DC metro area. If anybody knows of a place (maybe I've just never looked) I'd love to know - I have this love hate relationship with bubble tea because it's disgusting in theory and kinda disgusting in practice, but there's something about it that intrigues me and I often get some when I see a place.

tealuxe has bubble tea.. smack in the middle of thayer

Whether Providence lacks Asian food or not is dependent on how far from the campus you are willing to go. Providence has an unusual amount of Cambodian and Laotian food for a city of its size. The more common types of Asian food are within a few minutes walking distance (Thayer), 15 min (Wickenden), or 30 min (Hope St toward Blackstone). At longer distance or with a car there are more options (Apsara and the like, or things in MA).

I would say the availability and quality of Asian near campus is better at Brown than at most other schools not near a Chinatown or similar area.

Oh, I'm glad to hear it! I don't know if I could bear to live somewhere where I couldn't get pearl milk tea :D (Now I just have to worry about getting in....)
