Chance me please-

In order to avoid sounding like a total ******bag, I am somewhat certain
that I can gain admissions into UF, GPA 3.9 and SAT 2140.
My real concern is that my entire family lives in South Florida, I will have virtually no friends up in Gainesville and I am an admitted nerd. I am shy around girls, an avid marathon runner tipping the scales at 135 pounds and I spend most of my time reading books on Mathematics and studying for school.
My main concern is adjusting to school while away from home. Does anyone have any suggestions to make my transition into college a smooth one ?
Thanks
Also listed under FSU

most people come not being friends with anyone up here already. listen to the people at preview about making friends. make an effort. you get out what you put in. etc.

Maybe you could join math clubs and running clubs? If there’s clubs like that at my high school, then there’s definitely some at UF. And you might meet new people at those clubs too! :)

Start school in Summer B. This definitely helps with the transition. Things are more relaxed and there are a mostly freshman on campus.

You sound like a great candidate for Summer B. I know tons of people who came from S. Florida with few friends. They are having the time of their lives, How?? They joined clubs and attended meetings and such.
