a non-boring story thread

I’m a year ahead, although I do know people who are two years ahead… It’s absolutely insane.

Smile, your school’s schedule scares me ever so slightly…

I like my schedule =)

I love the schedule I want… But unfortunately no actual schedule-seeing until 8/31!

Haha yeah, and I need to drop something, if you take more than 2 AP classes, you must have a free period. LAME!

I don’t think I’m going to have a free next year. Seniors have the option of going to school early (7) so I’m taking that route. Hopefully then ill be out by 12:30 or 1ish.

I’d love a free period, but my school is reluctant to give them out. Especially to rising sophomores, they prefer us cluttering our schedules with useless electives where we’ll either sleep or browse the internet.

I’d definitely want to take another class though, but there aren’t any academic ones of interest to me, or that allow sophomores for that matter.

lol this should be renamed “HSL watering hole”

it always seems strange how HS freshmen always find this site

I googled chances and I came across a chance thread… Haha.

@ Smile: One of the private schools allows people to leave school after they’ve taken all of their AP exams. Like, the school year ends for them…I swear, some of them pay the tuition just for that.

Hmm well that’s now how it works in my school. But we do get out a month earlier then the underclassmen. We get out mid may and usually if you take the ap exam you don’t have to take finals.

As for finding oiut about cc is just happened a few months ago (when I was a junior) I was googling info on brown and ap/sat info, this site just kept popping up so I joined and BAM I am pretty much addicted.

Yeah, I think that’s how it works… No final if you do AP… I guess it makes some sort of sense, as because after the seniors test IB they don’t seem to do much besides watch movies.

^That’s how my school does it, but you don’t get out right after AP exams. Seniors have like 1-2 weeks of nothing really, and most teachers make them do nothing. Can’t wait to finish senior year & have no classes after AP exams haha.

Junior Year Schedule (Private School)

AP Chemistry
AP Stats
AP US History
AP English Lit.
Honors Precal
Honors Spanish IV
Debate

My schedule is the hardest in my grade, but it will be worth it, that’s for sure. Rigor of classes impacts our class ranking (I think, reg classes are waaaay too easy…kids shouldn’t get away with that).

@Smilemyonly: That’s too bad about the weather, hopefully you get to have some fun. Today was the first day that it was very nice (quite beautiful actually) in several days…great for outdoor activities!

CC is addictive, that’s why we’re here right now! HSL is just like Chances Threads, you have to keep checking every 5 seconds lol! BTW, I’m still straight (never plan to change hehe), and smilemyonly & I decided to be FWB last night! :)

Fwb…?

What happened to the freakin’ story?!

Anyway my schedule is also the hardest in my grade, unlike everyone else with 4 AP’s I am not taking only one semester AP classes (Micro econ, Stats, Geography, Government, etc), I am taking full year ones. And I am not taking the easy ones APES and Computer Science, lol. I am committing academic suicide as my GC sees it, w/e.

Also… I wish my school offered AP chem =(. Well w/e. Chem is my fav though. I like it more than math, and that is saying something!

Friends with benefits. ;)

I didn’t find this out until second semester, but apparently during freshman year one freshman was allowed to take history… Freshman aren’t allowed to take history. I’m kind of p’oed about that.

And, there are a couple of people with more difficult schedules than me because they’ve skipped two grades in math, (which I was supposed to do but didn’t because a stupid GC.) Ugh.

Awh… I see.

Lol. Yeah… I skipped two in math… (by our standards…) so yeah. Most people junior year take Alg II. There will only be four other kids taking AP calc as juniors.

But for the record I am not getting ahead in math because it will look good, I am doing it because I honestly love math, a lot, and science.

My school will barely allow me to take 5 senior year…and I’m pushing for 6! ;)

If all goes according to plan, then the only APs I won’t take will be: French (I take Spanish), AP Psych (not too interested here), and Art History (not really my thing). We only offer 14 because we’re a small school (150~ kids in HS).

Our reg classes are the same as APs at local public schools (so has been claimed), but I’m not too sure. My school is the hardest in the area, but it’s not too bad honestly. My GC basically flat-out said that I can forget top schools (w/o an SAT yet, 3.93 UW GPA, and developing ECs to dinstinguish/display passion). I so want to prove him wrong! ;)

At my old school, there was like 15-20 kids (out of 95 in grade) on track to take AP Calc junior year…but this process started in 6th grade, and I began in end 7th/beginning 8th. So I’m only 1 year ahead. I could’ve taken a class this summer, but I’m volunteering for like 7-8 weeks instead! ;)
