A penny for your thoughts? (Chances thread)

I've just joined this website, but I've been lurking for quite a bit. Everyone on here seems so outstanding that now I'm wondering (fearing) if I'll get into any of my college choices. Am I aiming too high?

I have other colleges I'm thinking about as well, if I have improperly ranked those. But these are the ones I'm seriously considering.

Okay, I think that's everything. Let me know if you need to know anything else.
Thank you for taking the time to look at this! Please be gentle?

Oh, and I'm not sure if this makes a difference or not, but I was told that I should add that I have never taken any kind of SAT prep course, such as the princeton review.

ill assume you are from nj considering drew is your safety. I dont know much about some of the schools on your list but I would say you are in at penn state and tcnj. TCNJ I know well and you're in if you have over a 1300 and are in the top 5% of your class.

Yes, I live in NJ. =D

Thank you so much!

Any other opinions?

i dont know Vassars criterion, but you should get into youre other colleges

if your in NJ why not do Rutger-NB

I considered Rutgers, but I just don't like the area. Sure, the stats fit, but it's just not right for me personally.

Thank you for your reply, though! =D

PSU Honors will be very hard for you based on your SAT scores. You have probably seen that on the first screen of the online app they say that to be considered, an applicant should have at least a 1350, but that they will make some exceptions when evaluating a candidates credentials. Colgate is also probably a reach, but you have a better shot there than at the PSU honors college.

Yeah, I know the honors college for PSU is basically impossible for me. But hey, it wouldn't hurt to try, right?

For Colgate I'm still iffy. I might just apply to University of Rochester instead, since I fit in better there. But according to college board, my SATs make the bottom 50% of Colgate, so I might still try. (How accurate is College Board, though?) I heard that Colgate also doesn't give much financial aid, so that's another thing that is making me reconsider applying there.

Thank you very much for your input!

college board is usually right but check out the schools profile for more accurate numbers. Being in the bottom 50 percent in scores will usually make it a reach for you, but I feel that youd still be competitive thanks to your solid academics.

Okay, thank you again!

I greatly appreciate the responses I'm getting- thanks guys. =D

And please, if any of you know of any other schools that you think would fit me, don't hesitate to suggest them!

Just a quick bump to see if anyone else has an opinion.

i think u have a great chance at colgate

Do you honestly think so?
Thank you!

Isn't Colgate harder than Vassar? I think you have a decent shot at Vassar and your list is balanced.

How about Bucknell or Lehigh? Might be high targets.
Maybe Villanova for a match?
Dickinson seems to have good language and study abroad programs.
All your schools are small except for PSU. Honors is a reach for you - but even if you get in; it doesn't match the small school environment. You would have to be comfortable with big - VERY big. That said, my son loves it there.
Lack of prep course for SAT makes NO diifference.

Moonlit, how's the ACT score?
