A plug for NSSE

In the event that there may be some parents who are still unfamilar with the NSSE website, allow me to introduce you to them. As a college professor myself, I know of NSSE as the umbrella assessment of many, if not most, colleges and universities. I believe you will find a great deal of useful information on the NSSE site including a helpful guide to selecting the most appropriate school for your child. There is also a guide to interviewing colleges and asking questions you might not have otherwise thought of.

Good luck to all parents of prospective college students!

Spelling out “National Survey of Student Engagement” in the subject as well as giving its abbreviation “NSSE” might attract more people to view this thread.

I can’t figure out how to use it to get relevant info…:(

Searches can be conducted using either the map or the alphabetic list at the bottom. Please note that some colleges participate during even or odd years while some participate more frequently.

Alternatively, perform an internet search “NSSE, name of the university” to retrieve the latest copy of the survey.

“The Executive Snapshot [Year]” and

“The Student Experience in Brief [Name of the University]” are 2 good reports to use for comparing Universities. Sometimes, one may have to contact the university to get these reports.
