<p>A high school acquaintance of mine who goes to Northeastern has recently passed away. A friend in Boston claims that it was a suicide, but I am unable to find any information supporting that claim. I imagine that students receive some kind of email after a student's passing, so I was hoping that somebody here could clarify what happened to this person. Thanks in advance.</p>
<p>We were recently emailed regarding a student who had passed, however, the email contained no information as to the circumstances of the death.</p>

<p>My freshman did not get this email/alert, maybe it occurred before freshman move-in?</p>
<p>On the Northeastern parents message board, someone posted on Sept. 4 that her daughter’s friend had taken his life “this past week.” My son got an email about the death but not the cause. For many people, there is still a stigma attached to suicide, so I think NEU was right not to disclose it.</p>
<p>Oh. I haven’t receive any messages either. I’m sorry but I’m afraid I cannot help you. If NEU decides to keep this private, then I think we should respect that. I was going to ask around and see if I can get any information for you, if it’s important to you to know. But I guess this is a private issue we should not openly discuss about if NEU doesn’t openly announce it.</p>
