A question about an UC deadline

I have applied to several UC campuses. From the general UC website (that is, admissions.universityofcalifornia.edu), it is stated that:

“March 2nd [is the] Deadline for applicants for all terms to submit FAFSA and Cal Grant GPA Verification Form.”

The problem is, I am an international applicant. What do I do?

For your information, I am a foreign student who attended a Kansas high school for four years. I came to US to study when I was around 12 years old.

Thank you!

If you are an eligible non-citizen, you can file for the FAFSA. For example, are you considered a permanent resident? Then you can still file for the FAFSA. https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/eligibility/non-us-citizens

The Cal grant on the other hand is only for California residents. http://www.csac.ca.gov/CGM/calgrant_handbook.pdf

Here is some info about finances for international students at UCs http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/international/finances/index.html
"Most international students find it difficult to obtain financial assistance in the United States, particularly if no aid has been offered by an academic department or scholarship organization before arrival in the United States.

Also, it’s important to note that UC awards a very limited number of grants, loans and scholarships to international undergraduates. At some campuses, no assistance is available to international undergraduates."

Thanks @sophie9999 for your answer. I checked all the things on the FAFSA website, and I found out that I am not eligible to file for the FAFSA. I also am not a California resident. So, do not have to do anything for the March 2nd deadline? Or do I have to inform UC that I’m not eligible to apply for either of the two?

Thank you.

Your original application informed UC that you were an international applicant and thus not eligible for FAFSA or the Cal grant. You don’t need to contact them and you don’t need to worry about the deadline.

@Grativity No problem! You don’t have to meet any deadlines for need-based aid then. You don’t have to inform them of anything because they already know you are international.
