A Question about AP's...

Hello everyone.

I applied for Early Decision at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) a week ago under Software Engineering.

I just had a question about AP's...more specifically, AP Calculus BC. Now, according to my RIT course schedule for software engineering, I will be taking Calculus I, II, and III my first year. According to the RIT website, if I get a 3 on the AP Calc BC exam, I can remove Calculus I from my schedule. The thing is, I would still have to take Calc II and III later on. If I am going to have to return to the calculus world, should I even bother "canceling out" Calc I if I were going to get a 3? I feel like I would be able to do better if I started from the ground up once again at RIT with background knowledge rather then going into a higher level course right from high school.

What does everyone think about this?

Unless you get a 5 on the AP test, I’d recommend taking Calc I, II, and III in college. You’ll be more confident that way. Good luck with your ED.

Yes, that’s exactly what I was thinking. I would rather take Calc all over again then go in halfway running around like a chicken with its head cut off.

Thank you. I don’t think I’ll have any problems getting in. I am about 200 points above my major’s median SAT score.
