I have a question about common app's "future plans", it asks what's the highest degree you want to earn.
I want to be a psychologist, but I'm not sure if I'll go to grad school or med school.
If I said I want to be a doctor, would it be incorrect to pick "PHD(Doctorate)"? Cause it also has a "MD" section.
Theoretically speaking, a person can go to med school and still earn a PHD after he/she earned a MD, right?

At this point, just choose the one you most likely think you want to do. Students are known to change their major along the way and future plans. Just pick the one that fits you best.

I want to be a psychologist, but some people became a psychologist through grad school while some became a psychologist through med school.
So I’m confused about which one I should pick on the common app.

A psychologist typically has a PhD, while a psychiatrist has an MD. They are different disciplines with different educational requirements. That is why several years ago there was a lot of discussion about psychologists getting the ability to write scripts since historically, they couldn’t (ie. since no MD).

Don’t overanalyze that question - put in what you think is the most likely at this point in time.

@Poohbah29 - Thanks for the explanation! It’s very helpful.
