another possible perk to taking the phys ed or whatever and getting the associates: if u try to get a part time job wherever u transfer, you have a degree, and other students attending ur new college wont. that matters sometimes in hiring for office jobs, etc.

For me, it came down to the fact that I would have to pay for tuition and books for two extra classes, completely unrelated to my major, and not required for me to transfer. Hopefully, when all is said and done I'll have my BS and a professional degree... why would I need an extra piece of paper from my community college, and waste my summer taking those last two classes before transferring, when I could be working?

Having a AA might give you a edge over others college students when applying for a job or internship.

I think there's a database out there.. Most institutions ask that you be "in good standing at ALL colleges you've attended...etc."

what does that have to do with anything?

If you are transferring, I don't see a point. In Florida, as someone pointed out, if you get the degree you are guaranteed admission to some schools (not necessarily to your degree program of choice, tho!!), but if you carry good grades, then you don't need the certificate/degree. I will have 90 credits when I transfer, and no AA because I didn't complete the last 6000 words of writing credit, but that is just a Florida thing anyhow and i'm going out of state.

Sorry mags... when you asked "do you have to put down on an app or resume the community college you went to even if you just took a few classes there to transfer?" I missed the resume part and thought you were referring to applying for transfer to a college.

Now, if you're applying for a job at the CIA then I'd say disclose everything.

chemeng1 - with 90 credits, you better check the school you wish to transfer to. Some have restrictions on the number of credits you can carry. Most say you must complete 60+ credits at their institutions.

Hi, Stumper. Unfortunately, this is the amount of credits I hold (engineering programs are like that for many.) I am aware that I can't transfer them all, and i'm just hoping that the amount of credits doesn't cause me to be denied by Berkeley, but if i'm denied I really wouldn't be sure of the reason I suppose.

thx
