a school's grading system, does it matter for admission?

i heard this from some of my friends who told me that their school is using 10 pts scale, like 100-90 is A, 89-80 is B, etc. but my school uses 7 pts scale, which means 100-93 is an A, i always, for some reason, manage to get 92 or 92.1 and ended up having Bs. does anybody know if a school’s grading system matters anything at all during the admission process? and also a school’s competitiveness. like mine, it’s ranked as one of the top 50 in the nation, (for public hs, of course) and the average GPA is like 3.6 weighted. any opinion is appreciated!

If it does matter, what are you going to do about it? In other words, does it matter if it matters?

of course it matters. it should matter because it matters to you because it matters to adcons which matters your acceptance... lol like matter is a verb

you should not be concerned. along with your transcript, your school should send along a grade converstion chart showing your grades with respect to your school, and your school to the national gpa and sat scores. its not a big matter

I really don't think that being a national recognized school will improve your chances, or make up for a bad GPA. I think that you shouldn't matter about this GPA issue. Just do well on the SATs.

Which school you go to most definitely matters. The school profile that your counselor sends to colleges shows admissions officers the grading scale, course offerings, average GPA, etc. So colleges will consider the fact that your B could mean a 92, while another applicant's A might be a 90 because of their school's grading scale. They will also make sure you've taken advantage of the opportunities that your school provides - for example, taking as many AP courses as you can.
Your SATs, by the way, do not matter as much as the rigor of your schedule and your GPA.

"Which school you go to most definitely matters. "

Not really...because it seems on this website everyone's school is "nationally ranked." The only schools that count for national would be like Exeter, or something to that extent.

i've taken all the "highest" courses for math and science at our school, and thanks for the previous posts, my GPA is well above average.. not that much tho, but i did not post this topic this coz i have a very low GPA, mine is about 3.75 unweighted and 4.0-4.1 weighted
