a sophomore needing advice.

hey all. I would like to seek some advice as I'm going to be a junior this fall.

I'm a Korean American..

my UW gpa is a 4.0 so far and I'm in the top 5% in my class... I'll have taken 6 or 7 ap's by graduation..

my ec's are V Soccer, Concert Band, Community Service Club, Bio teacher assisstant, New England Math League, Piano 10 years, and church youth ministry student leader

I won 2nd place in the school AMC 10 last year as a freshman.. and I won a 1000$ scholarship (I go to a private school)

I plan to major in philosophy or study pre-law or international relations or political science.. or theology

I'm more of a foreign language/english/history type although I do well in math and science as well (I'm not extraordinarily talented enough to get state awards and stuff.. simply not enough interest haha)

On my free time I love reading books on theology, philosophy, and doing community service. My utmost passion is serving others.. and I would like to display this as a hook if I can.. I am told that I should look into more leadership positions and start my own projects so I've been emailing a couple of institutions so I can start this =) (HIPP)

during the summer I'm going to a missions trip down south in MS and another to Cambodia and a soccer camp in between of that and maybe holding a job down in the beginning of june (we get out really early)

I've been looking at UVA UMich UCB the Ivies and Williams as my top choices and I would like to know how to increase my chances to be accepted to these schools.! oh and I've considered McGill and U Toronto as well cuz I thought living in montreal or toronto would be pretty intriguing =) (I'm just worried they don't have much name recognition in the US for gradschool admissions)

also, whwat SAT II's should I take? I need to take 3 so.. I'm thinking Bio US history and math IIC but that doesn't really fit in with my humanity liking personality.. so I'm kind of torn on this one..

and what are some stuff I should be doing to get a headstart on the admissions process?

thank you =)

try doing www.questbridge.com

Unless you are planning to major in math or science related careers (and if so, you will need to take some math/sci SAT IIs because that's what things like engineering programs require), take the SAT IIs in the fields that you're strongest in.

Make sure also to check the web sites of the colleges you're considering applying to. They'll tell you if they require any specific SAT IIs.

From a glance at your overall stats, definetly some leadership positions, also maybe focus Excur. to one major cause it looks really spread out with no direction. Best of Luck

Great stats. Definitely the leadership or more passion towards a specific few things will be better. =] Great student for the colleges.

bump 10 characters.
also, directing my passions and leadership to a few specific things, would getting more involved in church leadership and starting my own humanity projects count? and how do i show this in the applications?

do i stand a chance for UVA or umich or uc berkeley? (im OOS for all)
