I dont check this website much anymore (since getting in that is), and I wanted to offer a bit of insight into what it is like here at Penn. I will most likely not check this thread again, so do not be offended if I do not respond to any questions...

I am a student in CAS majoring in PPE, and am currently in my third semester here. I chose Penn over Brown, Columbia and Dartmouth (and a few more non Ivies) because it really offered everything I wanted. To this day, I am extremely glad that I chose Penn. I have had the opportunity to take classes from the engineering school and wharton (yah... still need one from the nursing school.), and I am planning on taking a course in Penn Law next semester. With the exception of two of my classes, I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of them (if you want to know which ones, Penn Course Review should give you a good idea). My professors have been extremely distinguished in their respective fields. For example, my BPUB prof was on the civil aeronautics board and led the airline deregulation of the 70s, and my Economics prof was called upon to help asses the meltdown last October by the Fed... nearly all of my professors have been like this. And most importantly, they all want to talk with their students outside of class.

Another reason that I love Penn so much is the people. While a lot of the kids here are from the tri-state area (probably about 35 percent), most everyone is very sociable and friendly. This is something that bothered me about Dartmouth, Columbia, and especially Princeton, as i found many of the students there very anti-social. Also, the consensus among us sophomores/juniors is that each year, the girls at Penn get better and better. I know that this is by no means a deciding factor for where you are going to get your education, but it is something to be mentioned.

Another thing that drew me to Penn was the semi laid back atmosphere that exists outside of classes. When not in class, most of us (except the Vagelos and M&T students) take the time to enjoy life. While there is a very pre-professional feel -especially in wharton- it doesn't feel like your life is entirely about studying/tests. I love that I can get out of an intense lecture and meet a few friends to throw a frisbee around for an hour before going to my next class. I hate to be cliche, but I am having the time of my life in college, and I don't look forward to leaving this beautiful campus.

In all, I feel as if I have grown and learned more than I could have imagined over the last year, and I am extremely excited each day to go to classes and enjoy life here at Penn.

hope this helps
