I am a upcoming senior and I have been moving around a lot (3 tiimes in the last 3 years, including once to china to study for a year). My grades aren't as nice as I would like them to be. I'm in IB Diploma and have a couple of B's.

My question is: do colleges considered that fact that I have been moving around a lot? Would the international experience be a bonus? and how much of a bonus?

Yes, they do, but only if your grades were really impacted by it. Your moving honestly sounds like an excuse to me.

what excuse...a couple of Bs is not a deal breaker by any means.

I have moved around a lot too!
I have lived in 4 different countries growing up and I am definitely playing that up in my essays and such.
Im applying to Georgetown and I think it will be a definite plus since they are known for the international studies.
As for impacting your grades...i think that might be a little tough to pull off as an excuse.

I think it will only really be a plus if you have something meaningful to say about the experience in an essay

I've moved a lot in my life because my parents are/were in the Navy. As a result, I've gone to over 10 schools (k-12) and I've never in any one place for more than 3 years. It didn't affect my grades any; I'm valedictorian at my current high school. I think I might have moving around and never living anywhere for more than 3 years be a topic to one of my college essays.

Colleges do take into account if a student has moved around a lot. How many B's are we talking about for you? If it's only a couple it's nothing to worry about, but if you consistently get 1-3 B's per semester, it won't reflect nicely for the top schools.

llpitch - me too! My dad was in the Navy, then he retired when I was 13- the longest I've ever lived somewhere is 4 years. :)
