A to Z: What To Bring To College

Downy wrinkle release! Works like magic!!!

regarding the computer/printer things, check out your school's ammenities..same goes for other big ticket items on the list!

Condoms... never forgetyour condoms! LMFAO

yea...those too

most of that stuff is unnecessary IMO

first of all, thanx a LOT for the wonderful list.

and if im flying to college, will it be better to get the stuff there?

yes sachit

wow what a GREAT and COMPREHENSIVE list. thanks alot times a million to the person who made this. really saved me a lot ot time and trouble =D

Do many students in warmer climates bring a fan? If so, do you all prefer the window kind, the box kind or the upright corner kind? (too bad you can't install a window air conditioner!)

I brought a box kind. Not the other. Some schools pull some crap and turn the AC off before the summer is really over. They have a certain date to do it and they do not care if it is still hot or not. A fan is a necessity in my book.

So you mean your dorm had AC, but you can't control it? That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard of! Well okay, it's not dumber than the fact that all the freshman dorms at UMD don't have AC at all, but it is just a step above.

I am bringing two fans, btw. A standing occillating and a box fan for the window.

Mine was like that. We had AC and Heat but we couldn't really control when the systems were turned on. They wouldn't turn the heat off (the system, not the individual rooms) until April and by then, it was sweltering. And they don't turn it ON until after Thankgiving holidays when it's usually pretty cool if not cold by then. The only thing we could do was turn it on and off in our rooms. There was a knob that said "low-med-high" but really that just meant "cold-colder-coldest" on the ac. I never actually turned my heat on because it was already hot enough in the rooms without it all winter (because of how they do the heat-- they run steam through the pipes in the building). I kept my window up and my fan on all winter long. You could really get by without turning the ac on, in my dorm anyway, in the summer too if you had a good fan, because the AC got really cold really fast. You'd turn into an icicle if you left it on all night.

In all actuality the best thing to do is take some common sense items. Then ask for cash. Once your there you can figure out what you need and you will have the cash for it. Then go buy it. Problem solved.

I recommended purchasing a CrispAir Light bulb. I helps to get rid of cigarette smoke, odors and bacteria - perfect for a small enclosed dorm room. You can buy it at Amazon.com.

I also recommend taking rolls of quarters so your kids can do laundry! an eye mask and ear plugs helped me sleep while my roommate was up late studying - a great idea for light sleepers. it helped us both get along!

I recently visited a friend at his college and I seriously recommend athlete's foot medication. If not for you, then lend it to your roomate/suitemates is they need it. It will make living with them a LOT easier, trust me. Even if only ONE person has nasty feet it can make a suite of 8 miserable.

Sorry, not trying to be gross... :)

thanks for the list!

madourd...that is nasty :-p
just one more reason to remember the shower shoes!!

Thank you for this AWESOME list!! :)

Wow.. what a long list. But that helps a lot! I copied most of those items down. Thanks.

thanks :) edited the list to my liking. feeling much more confident.
