A to Z: What To Bring To College

Er, you mean plantar warts.

But, really, it’s not that big of a deal. You’ll run a slightly higher risk of contracting fungal weirdness and such, but not so much so that you should stress about it. Especially if the showers are kept clean. Also, if it really, really bothers you, you can always keep a spray bottle with some bleach and water, and spray the shower floor before you use it.

Honestly, I’m not all that concerned about fungus or anything.

You forgot Toilet Paper, Always pack this last, because it just might be the first thing you need in your new dorm ~Uhaul

Nice guide, bookmarked

Oh, and something that if you have, you should definetely bring!, a swiss army knife. I can’t believe how many times I wanted this on my last vacation.

agree with the cell phone thing!!! Very important! lol

Condoms, lots and lots of condoms. And … spermicidal foam

You can find everything you need to pack here:
http://collegechecklist.yolasite.com

although hopefully most of you are already done by now!

based on the other night, ipecac can be useful

Should I bring the AP books to college like calculus and physics and blabla…

^ No. I wouldn’t bring anything that you really don’t need.

One thing I learned while living on-campus in the dorms at Texas A&M at Kingsville is that the dorms are a little over 30 years old. As a result you share a community restroom & showers. Even though they “try” and clean them… Carry disinfectant wipes or hell just carry a can of Lysol. And a pair of sandals if you use a shower. consider things like getting a staph infection or athletes foot if you’re not careful.

Usually if you’re an incoming freshman or sophomore, you’re stuck with these type of living conditions. At least here in Texas. Otherwise if you’re a Junior or Senior and apply for student housing they get priority as far as getting dorm suites who get private restroom/shower. So take those factors into account.

The campus has been around since 1925 and being a Texas Unvi. its under funded, so be mindful as far as what toiletries you should bring with you.

I totally recommend a first aid kit with ACE bandage and lots of different meds.

There’s a good list here:
[What to Take to College](http://whattotaketocollege.com/)

Hangers would be a great idea.

There are a lot of things to be bring when going to college. Most important is the cellphone and laptop, personal hygiene materials, clothing and laundry basket, bed mattress and blankets, shoes socks and a lot more. If you found out that you still lack of many things you can still buy it in the nearby department store or supermarket.

A new website [Alabama, United States - BuySellMyBooks.com](http://www.buysellmybooks.com) mostly for college students selling books to other students please help me spread the word. It is totally free. It is in the begining stages but help me please. I am a student also and the prices are overpriced.

get your condoms @ costco duhhhh

how do you bring all of these things? you mentioned a bicycle and a bookcase, along with millions of other big items. so how do you physically take all these things with you?

^Most people don’t bring EVERYTHING with them. I brought the stuff I had at home with me and bought some stuff to bring. Anything school related I bought once I got to school.

Here is what I plan to bring to college with a few changes to be more typical of what someone might bring to college. There is still a fair bit that is unique to me. Feel free to add or remove whatever you like as obviously not everyone will be bringing kilts and such. The reason why I plan to pack so much is that college is already a new enviroment and is therefore somewhat nerve racking to begin with, being without certain material items that I am used to (like my posters and hat collection) would just make it more stressfull to make the transition. If I find that I don’t use certain items I can give them to people who need them or otherwise dispose of them. The main form of transportation for me will be a motorized bicycle due to it’s low emissions. Some of these things like a mini fridge will already be there, so check with the school first)

^ = to be bought when arriving at campus
/ = needs to be shared with room mate and needs to be worked out with roommate beforehand so as not to both bring the same thing
