A writing MC question

Sorry for disturbance everyone, but I had trouble with the following questions:

[The flag is risen each morning over government buildings in Washington.]
B. Each morning the flag is rising over government buildings in Washington.
C. The flag is raised each morning over government buildings in Washington.

Correct: C.

Students in the origami class selected colorful sheets of paper, [creased and folded it carefully, and thus had created] fanciful animal shapes.
B. then creased and folded them carefully to create
E. creased and folded them carefully, thus they created

Correct: B.

This is basically a TOEFL question: do you know the conjugations of “rise”? If so, then you can easily spot that the original uses the pp where it should use the simple past.

The original has a pronoun error. E is a comma splice (two independent clauses connected with a comma but no FANBOYS coordinating conjunction).

The flag rises or is raised…

E sounds awkward

 1. That still doesn’t explain why “the flag is rising” is wrong. “Rising” is present continuous, so it should be okay?

No answers?

“each day” is not the continuous now, so the correct sentence wud b

each morn the flag rises blah blah blah
each morn the flag is raised blah blah blah

rising would only be used if the flag was being raised in the now

like

“the flag is rising NOW”

‘is rising’ is present progressive, each morning is simple present so ‘is raised’ should be used
