"Troll" is a term that is used all over the Internet, not just on CC. From the online Urban Dictionary:
One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument
and
One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers.
DD- dear daughter
DS- Dear Son

"pwned" is just slang kids use to mean that they "beat" someone - sometimes they say "I pwned you" or "I owned you," but it's really the same thing.

Thanks for clarifying what DD/DS mean. But now that I know what they actually stand for, I kind of hate them. If my mom or dad posted on here and refered to me as their "Dear Daughter" I'd probably be ****ed. it sounds too clingy and almost derogatory, like something you'd hear in the 1950s when women had no rights and were treated as objects.

That's my opinion, at least.

I come from the Service Academy forums, and I just somehow stumbled across this. I've never seen anyone over there use DS though [maybe once or twice]. Everyone always just uses S to refer to their son. (Ex. - I got to talk to my S this weekend, or "S had good news.."

FTW = for the win
ex. Firefox is so much better than Internet Explorer (IE). Firefox FTW!!!

COA = cost of attendance. refers to scholarships for the most part. includes tuition, board, food, sometimes transportation. varies per school.

also, as a "daughter," I have never liked the use of DD/DS. What's the point? We all know you care about your child simply because you made the effort to join this board on their behalf. Why not just use D/S? (I agree with troof)

You messed up the seven sisters.
Radcliffe(sorry if I misspelled), Mt. Holyoke, Smith, Wellesley, Vassar, Barnard and Bryn Mawr.

Now a historical reference b/c Radcliffe officially part of Harvard and no longer degree granting, Vasser is co-ed. The rest are still single sex and riding high!

Triguena-
Yes-- efforts have been made in this thread as far back as June of '05 (post #96) and April of '07 (post #177) to list correctly the 7 sisters. And for the record, its Vassar (not Vasser) ;)
