Dartmouth ED Class of 2020

Hello to potential Dartmouth ED applicants. I just wanted to start this thread because I didn’t see one already up, but basically I figured we could discuss anything related to Dartmouth here. I am planning on applying to Dartmouth ED (hence the title haha)

Hey there!

Congrats, I am debating whether I should apply to Dartmouth ED or Amherst ED. Both are close matches, but still a little of a reach. EC’s are my weakness…I haven’t solved cancer yet. Have you guys started on the supplement yet? I wrote up a rough draft of what I wanted to say. I responded to the first prompt that asked about “the origin and meaning of either your first, last, or middle name.”

I wrote up a supplement, but apparently it may change this year, so I’m still on the lookout for August 1st when we get to see for sure.

Does anyone know what the supplement prompts are this year?

^ The essay prompts can be found on that page, but I’m not 100% sure if they are going to stay the same for this years application

“Here are the essay supplement prompts for those who want to enroll in the fall of 2015.” So they are already up!

We technically are applying in the fall of 2015 and will be enrolling (granted we are accepted) in the fall of 2016. I emailed admissions this morning and will post once I get a response from them.

I’m thinking I will apply ED too! Good luck to everyone starting this process!!

Yes, we are entering in fall 2016, so they may still change. Also no Ivy League school is a match for anyone. They’re always reaches. Just higher reaches for some than others.

The supplement essay prompts will be up on August 1st on the Common App. Relax everyone.

Admissions emailed back and said the supplemental essay prompts are going to stay the same for this year!

@laxgirl98 Great, thanks for the info!

Does anyone know the ED acceptance rate? I heard it’s around 25%. There was a slight increase in the acceptance rate about two years ago. I wonder how it will be like this year…

@maaz97 it fluctuates around 25%. But you also have to think about all the athletes who apply ED as well. The ‘real’’ acceptance rate is probably nearer to 20% w/out athletes

@MileSwimmerDude is right. Athletes get accepted in this time. I think I read somewhere that last year’s early admit rate was about 30% but without athletes considered it was about 20%

That pretty much means that one out of the 5 people who have commented on this will get in… :-S

20% is still a pretty good acceptance rate for an Ivy League. Harvard and Yale are approaching 5% these days.

Well this is ED. Harvard, Yale, and Princeton all have close to 25% ED as well.

@MileSwimmerDude Harvard, Yale, and Princeton don’t even offer ED admission.
