What does bump (10 char) mean? I know what bump means, but what about (10 char)?

wemel-
read post # 162

Thanks, I read the post that summarized everything and that wasn't on there.

D: daughter
S: son
(duh!)
I find it very wierd though when it's said as D1 or S2...it's like....emm...just itemizing them in a wierd way...I just wud rather write out daughter or son...afterall it doesn't save u A LOT of time does it?

^^^ Actually... for those of us who have been around the block here for quite a while, and have a coupla thousand posts (not counting the posts in the cafes), saving the extra keystrokes by saying S1 or S2 DOES save a lot of time, in the long run. It adds up! Maybe I should just start calling my boys S1 and S2?? :D

^hey, FYI, I am an old member, and I just abandoned my old sn (besides some other issues) and started this new one. Just to let you know.

Personally, I find it kind of morally irritating if I'd call my son/daughter S1 or D3! May be it's just me. But oh, well.

morally irritating??? hahahaha. Why is this any different than any other abbreviations? U of "you", CC'er for "college confidential poster", FYI, OP, "sn" for screen name, etc.

Re post #200 et al:

Another correction that needs to be made: these are WOMEN'S COLLEGES, not "girl's schools." Emma Willard or Miss Porter's is a girl's school.

That and calling female students "coeds" raises my blood pressure to unhealthy levels. :)

How about NU? I saw it listed as a school with a good CS program in another posting. Thanks.

i just wanted to make this one clear..

BERKELEY = CAL.................. NOTTTTTTTTTTT UCB

mom in virginia --
That's Northwestern, I'm pretty sure.

"^^^" (re post 192 who didn't get answered back in Sept) usually means - in response to the post directly above. Sometimes though, on a busy thread there will be a few posts in between.

DS/DD can mean darn as well as dear. :)

So how many posts does it take to become a Junior or Senior member?

After 300 posts, you stop being a Junior Member and become a Member. After 1,000 posts you're a Senior Member.

Which means absolutely nothing!

What does 10 char mean?

There is a minimum of 10 characters required to post on the forums. When someone's content is shorter than that, they will sometimes add "10 char." to fill out the required number of characters so they can post.

I like DD and DH because of the flexibility (dear or damn, depending on my mood or maybe it's their mood,LOL)

At our school, APUSH is called USHAP. We also have MEHAP and HAmLit (Honors American Lit). That last one really threw me "You're going to spend a whole year on Hamlet?

IIRC - If I Recall Correctly

What does this mean?????

possibly means "nevermind". In what context was it?
