Did anyone mention WOW, yet?

WOW -- walks on water: the sort of applicant that is a shoe-in wherever they apply. Almost as rare as the actual ability these days -- my daughter knows one (accepted everywhere she applied: Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown, and others I've lost track of).

WoW also means World of Warcraft. ;)

BGO -- Blue and Gold Officer (USNA Admissions Representative)

when you see a license plate 'HPY KIDS" and automatically think Harvard Princeton Yale...

even more embarassing, it was parked in front of a business called "Happy Kids Day Care"

Work in the land of alphabet soup acronyms so easy to spew these out and to blow off definition.

That said--NOVA = Northern Virginia, the area within about 30 miles of the District of Columbia.

TASP.

Can someone please tell me what it means? It is a program like RSI at MIT I think. Thanks.

Tennessee, Alabamba, Sewanee, and Pepperdine

But I could be wrong :-)

When I googled TASP, what I found was the "Texas Academic Skills Program." It is described here: http://www.testprepreview.com/tasp_test_breakdown.htm

It looks like the name has changed to THEA.

Of course, the post where you saw this could have been referring to something else. I saw a six week program that also has this abbreviation. There probably are other things as well, but I figured I had done enough research!

TASP as referred to usually on CC, Telluride Association Summer Program, 6 week summer program for juniors. TASS is for sophomores.

Kat

Re something someone posted a while back...at Princeton we learned that the "ivy" comes from the ivy that the different classes of the school plant on the sides of the main building...so that's where "ivy" comes in now!

"TASP as referred to usually on CC, Telluride Association Summer Program, 6 week summer program for juniors. TASS is for sophomores."

The orginal post was talking about how Math and Science students participate in programs like the Siemens and RSI (Research Science Institute?) to boost college application. Question was asked what kind of programs are out there for Arts and Humanities kids . Someone mentions TASP without explaining what TASP was.

Anyone?

Foggy-
My above post gives the link for TASP. The web page will explain.

Kat

Someone mentioned PLOS (Parent Looking Over Shoulder), I always saw that IMspeak as POS (Parent Over Shoulder), but there's a better one for the parents:

BOS -- Boss Over Shoulder

POS has a very different translation round these parts... :)

DI = Drill Instructor

What does "btw" mean?

BTW = By the way

OOS? I see that used around the U of California boards.. what is that?

OOS= Out of state
