Abnormal stats

<p>Ok so I thought I would post my stats here and see if I could get some perspective on the possibility of getting into a top tier school, Stanford in particular.</p>

<p>HS: GED (joined the US Army at 17 W/GED)
College: 1+ years of CCC with a 3.6 GPA (honors)
Note: I recently changed to an engineering major so I still have 1.5 years of math and science needed.</p>

<p>EC's: This is where it gets kind of interesting. At 17 I joined the US Army and was active duty artillery for 3 years. I finished my contract and went to a CCC for a year before I was recalled ("back door draft" for those of you who follow such things) and now I am spending a year and a half in Iraq. Surprisingly enough my work here in Iraq is humanitarian in nature and I think it will be a good addition to my apps.<br>
VP of a few clubs during while at my CCC.</p>

<p>I'm looking for some advice before I return to California... </p>

<p>MAJOR: Industrial engineering (looking to transfer to Stanford as a Management Science and Engineering major)</p>

<p>Probability of getting into Stanford, Yale, Harvard with a 3.7-3.9 GPA
Do you think me EC's (Military/Iraq) will help or hurt my apps.
Are some CCC better than others? I'm planning on moving back to California when I get back to the states however I don't really care where in California and I'm wondering if going to a specific CCC might give me a better chance.</p>

<p>Thanks in advance for your help... please try and leave your opinions about the war in Iraq out of the post (I didn't exactly want to be deployed, but sometimes you have no choice).</p>

<p>I wouldn't bother apply to stanford or harvard with a GED. What you can do is try Yale's special student program. Good luck</p>

<p>honestly, no clue about GED score. (over 4 years ago)</p>

<p>Also try columbia university school of general studies.....great school...they look at work experience and character more that grades, so having a ged may not be a problem.</p>

<p>If I was accepted to the Columbia general studies is it possible to transfer to the engineering dept?</p>

<p>it's difficult...but yes its possible to transfer within the colleges.</p>
