Yes, I am pro-choice. If the mother really wants to abort, she will do it whether or not its legal. Legally is generally safer. I've heard illegal ways are rather grotesque, I shudder at the thought.

Legally no, morally yes

.....no.....

I doubt growing up as an unwanted child is a good experience. Oh, and *&^&% any religious counterargument, I'm prochoice.

No.

Not just because I disagree with killing babies, but also abortion is a major reason why most of the developed nations are losing population. There will be a economic crisis in the near future because of too many seniors and too few working people......

umm, thats the stupidest basis I've ever heard for the reduction in population growth.

The fact of the matter is that an abortion is also a financial decsion and that some people can't afford to deal with children due to being in a dead end career or in the early stages of their career.

The overall reduction in population growth is becaues people CHOOSE to have fewer children by way of using prophylactics and other devices that prevent conception.

Please, don't say stupid things, its embarrassing for us all.

schemer is right, are we supposed to prevent birth control because it causes a loss in population?

Additional to what schemer said:
- Healthcare is improving.
- There is a cap on social security investment by the rich. If those who earn over $100,000 donated their earned share, there would be no impending "economic crisis"
- If President Bush's social security initiative passes, with its PRA plan, just wait 30 years. The elderly population will drop in number significantly. Many will be struggling through life. Mix in a record deficit and you get back your low young:elderly population ratio.

I said developed countries, not just the U.S.

Russia is declining in population, with a birth rate of 1.17 children per woman. However, Russian women average over 2.5 abortions each. Don't you think if those abortions did not take place, that birthrate would increase?

Actually, I think infantcide and suicide would increase. You say that an economic crisis is impending, due to dwindling population. Do you take into account the fact that any crisis would be due to overpopulation, to begin with?

legally - yes
morally - yes

I've heard illegal ways are rather grotesque

You haven't heard about the legal ways have you?

You are being nieve. Those factors would not be enough to prevent the increase in birthrate.
I realize that the crisis would be originally caused by overpopulation, but that still does not change the fact that the population decline will cause problems.

Legally: yes
Morally: no

One hell of a f-ng decision you don't ever want to be faced with.

legally and morally no

"I've heard illegal ways are rather grotesque, I shudder at the thought."

No........... .

abortion is not a problem.
it is a result of a problem.
eliminating abortion is like erasing a result to a math problem b/c you don't like it.
the problem is that some people are too poor, bad relationships, etc, etc, etc.
these are the problems--and they cause people to get abortions done.
abortions just don't exist by themselves, they are forced by something.
fix the influence--reduce poverty, abuse, etc, and perhaps people would WANT a child.
I think people should stop looking at abortion as a problem, and look at it as a result.
You gotta get rid of the root, not cut off the top weeds, if you know what I mean.
P.S--sorry, sorry ,sorry, I know we're not supposed to have any compelling arguments, but I just wanted to get my point across. :)

legally yes, morally no... i think... but I can't ever really say until I am in that situation
but legally yes!

or more sexually active girls/women could take birth control, it's responsible, and when used with a condom the chances of pregnancy are very unlikely..but I suppose not everyone would be comfortable ingesting a pill containing hormones and it wouldn't be looked upon favorably by most parents
