About AP Chem M/C and calculators

If you are asked to calculate stuff like pH, are you allowed to use a calculator?

no calculators. nothing would require a calculator.

if you were asked to calculate ph it would be something like

given M of H+=10^-9

as part of a problem for something else. like acid-base equilibrium.

are you suppose to do logarithm in your head??

dude do you know what a logarithm is.

standard log=base 10.
log base 10 of 10^-9=10 to what power= 10^-9.

I know what it is, but I don’t want to do it in my head, like -log0.001 or something, I don’t want to compute that in my head

.001 is 1x10^-3 so you just take the power, -3 and make it negative so it’s 3.

Don’t expect any decimals like .4583…and if there are some, you can always round.

All calculations in the M/c are without calculator–they’ll try to give you nice, even numbers to work with like 300 K…also most of it you can ballpark the answers so it’s not terribly difficult, only annoying.
