For current students, how much money do you need in vanderbilt in average?
I am thinking of putting in some money on commodore cash which is simply pre-paid debit card.
I am taking a hard time selecting how much money I have to put in because I have no idea how much will cost for living. I think I need more money than vanderbilt's estimated costs ;d.

Also do you think adding a breakfast for the meal plan is a good option than the minimum 14meal plan (lunch, dinner). The difference is about $400 and thats a lot of money. I want to know whether the quality of the breakfast is worth it. I might just need a bowl of cereal you know.

I was wondering the same thing, but then I realized I'm not really big on breakfast anyways...maybe some poptarts or nutragrain bars in the dorm should do it.

From this year's experience, I would suggest that you establish a bank account and get a debit card to draw from it to cover your food costs when you are NOT eating at the Vandy places. Bread & Company has excellent food and you'll want to eat there or get a coffee/food at Starbucks. I wouldn't put it in Commodore Cash. There are many other good places to eat. The food at school was rated "good" or "not bad" by my student attending.
I didn't have to supplement the cash earned during the summer almost until the very end. Figure about 1200 to 1500 per semester (but that included a lot of non-food items) additional and you should be okay.
Have a great next year. Also get a credit card with your mom & dad or by yourself but don't go hogwild. Use only for emergencies.

if you're not a breakfast person don't pay for it--just get the plan you want for lunch and dinner. when you feel like breakfast after partying all weekend, there are plenty of places off campus to use your debit card. on the vandy website go to the food/dining info and you'll get more info.
