Can anyone tell me more about Loomis Chaffee School? My son is attending Loomis in the fall.

If you search this board for "loomis" you will find some discussion. There is someone whose son attended a PG year there who posts from time to time.

Good soccer....

Congratulations, Loomis is a terrific school with a fabulous campus and outstanding facilities. Have friends with sons there and they absolutely love it. A little rough in the beginning academically in their freshmen years but that was to be expected. They are both now excelling academically and athletically. Juniors this Fall and will be interesting to see where they go next. The college matriculation list at Loomis is impressive. They're a good bunch of kids at Loomis. I met a dozen of them on vacation one night at a friends house. Other than completely devouring every bit of food in the house, they were polite, sociable and pro Loomis. I think you're son is going to be really happy with Loomis.

Thanks. My s is very excited about Loomis. He is from the public school system in Ca., I expect it will be rough at the beginning. He was lucky to get accepted.

loomis, pls dont be foolish..YAY it rhymes

how bout

beerfield, we beat them on their field

It's mostly for kids who have gotten expelled from other schools.

classical826, Loomis is a great school! Your child will not be disappointed. My D#1 was very close to choosing LC but, in the end the boarding numbers were a bit low for her.

Pwn, I believe you are misinformed with regard to your assessment.

there's actually some truth to pwn's statement....i know 3 people who got expelled from top prep schools and ended up at loomis.. one from andover, he's a smart ass 2300+ SATs and stuff but he was asked to leave, becoz again, he's an ass.. i know him from the summer abroad in spain program organized by loomis .....and 2 from hotchkiss who i personally know.........

I'm a LC grad from the 70s. My son was accepted but chose not to attend, and the currently don't offer the sport that S2 wants, so it's not a choice for him. But ... I would not hesitate to send my son to Loomis. Some of the teachers I had are still teaching there.

I stopped by at Easter and the campus is stunning. The quad is like nothing else -- and I've been to a lot of boarding schools and independent schools recently. The new plans for music education and Chaffee Hall renovation are great -- that building was new when I was there and I'm glad to see it being renovated to fit with today's school.

I'm attending LC, and love it. Of the 195 2007 graduating students, almost 40% are headed to top 25 college/universities. Below is the list:

Total # of 2007 graduating Students: 195

Very good school, beautiful campus, Windsor CT nothing to write home about.
School looks a lot older than it really is, 1916.
Good lacrosse, soccer. Football and hockey is terrible. Loomis has a rep as a liberal, fairly PC school. Notch below H and D etc. but not far below.

Kids and parents I know are very happy with Loomis, and their college record is very solid

Prepparent, Where is your D#1 end up going?

Middlesex................ imo, there is little difference between most of these schools. The education is provided and what the student does with the opportunity is the difference.
