Were you ever walking somewhere and you see a perfectly smooth and round stone, so you pick it up and put it in your pocket? It is irresistible in a way, the feeling of running your fingers over it. Every once in a while, you find yourself reaching into your pocket to touch it, or maybe you haven't worn the jacket in a while and suddenly you find it again. A question that has not been answered is the same, in that your mind revisits the question again and again. You turn the question over in your mind (like you turn the rock over in your fingers) maybe looking for a small crack or crevice that will give you insight as to what the answer may be. But a round stone, no matter what angle you approach it from, is the same, and you make no headway - therefore it is unyielding. The imagery of the stone (cold and heavy), is like the question, in that it won't go away and you are constantly reminded of it's presence.

It's probably a billion times easier to pick your own quote. You have to pick an experience you had and relate it to the quote to explain one of your "values," so I imagine there are very few people who could use the given quotes and make it all work well.
