Jane Hirshfield once said, Some questions cannot be answered./ They become familiar in the hand,/ Round stones pulled from the pocket, unyielding and cool.

The essay question said to use this essay as a starting point, does it mean that I'm required to use this quote? Can I use my own quote?

Also could current Princeton Students read my current essay? Thanks.

Well, this year’s application doesn’t have that as a quote.
Instead, it’s replaced by a quote about empathy and how it’s not just understanding how someone feels but mustering the courage to have will to help them out or something like that.

The other questions are the same.

The fourth option in the supplement allows you to use your own quote and respond to it.
Hope that helped!
