When the letters are mailed out on Dec 15, do the students receive emails on Dec 15 too? Around what time? Also, we can get the decision by phoning on Dec 16 or 17?

Good luck everyone~

i think laxfan said that on dec 15, snail mail letters are sent out, as well as emails.

do we also get mails if we get rejected? or we only get acceptance/defer mail? thsnk

i think you get mail, regardless of whether/not you get accepted/deferred/rejected.

yeah, I'd definitely like a confirmation of my status by email on dec. 15, what if they only did acceptances by email??? wow can you imagine sitting at your computer refreshing the screen over and over and over and over and over...

i can picture myself pressing that refresh botton on dec 15 :S

All decisions (admit/defer/deny) will be mailed on Dec. 15. Once letters are at the post office, emails will be sent to all ED applicants for whom we have a "working" email address. Emails are sent for admits, defers, and denies.

Decisions will not be released over the phone on Dec. 15. No decision has been made about when they will be released over the phone. I imagine they may wait until Monday, Dec. 19 but I am not sure.

im not sure if Hopkins has my "working" email or not - is there any way i can check if they have it? thanks loads. ^_^

and also.. at about what time on Dec 15 will they start sending emails?

They will use the email address listed on your application.

And no, there is no set time when emails will be sent on the 15th.

I got my email by about 1ish?

Actually, I don't remember for sure, since I pulled that time out of my butt. But here's a suggestion: Check out the archives from about a year ago. There are some on CC who made a post of the Hopkins decision as soon as they got the email. It should give you a ballpark time.

Remember, ED isn't the end of the line if you get deferred. There's always a chance to improve and try to make it in during the RD round. That's when you show TRUE devotion to Hopkins!

G'luck ya'll!

It's times like these I wish my school's internet filter wasn't so anal. I can't access my email from our school's server. I have a feeling the 15th is going to be one long hell of a day.

From last year...

thanks tanman =)

Judging by the times it looks like the emails were received around 2:30 pm eastern time.

just when i get home from school.
cue scary music

It seems like a considerable amount of students with weighted GPAs of less than 4.0 got accepted ED...was last year a weak applicant pool?

Hopkins is definitely a school that accepts on character and personality rather than sheer intelligence. I dont think last year's pool was weak; hopkins just doesn't accept all the highest scorers. Also it looks like lots of the people that posted on CC got in. Only 2 or 3 got deferred. Maybe we're all more motivated or something. Good luck everyone.

whoah. i thought taht said 4.0 unweighted, and i got really scared....

from the posts last year, it seems like pretty optimistic.. for my part.. but i think i sent in 2 too many recommendations.. when i went to a jhu info session, they said they STRONGLY RECOMMENDED maximum 4 reccs and the guy said "if i say strongly, take my word for it"

.. but i can only imagine myself being rejected.
