About the College Essay.

Ok, I just read an awesome essay from a student who got accepted into Columbia. He wrote about a time when he decided to go speeding and blah blah, got into a car accident. The central theme behind the essay, however, was to live life to the fullest and enjoy the experience. The thing that stinks is, I wanted to write an essay similar to that. No, not about speeding or anything, but something else. Anyway, I have a general topic, but somehow within the essay I want to include “egging.” Not in general, but a one time occurence that I think I could build on. So my question is, it couldn’t hurt me, right; to mention egging?

Also, if I wanted to attach a speech that I had gotten critical acclaim for, is it well–allowed in the first place?

Thanks, everyone.

I think it's risky but sometimes that's what takes to get in. It is certainly possible that it could hurt you -- be careful, but if it's "you" give it a shot and see what others think, then go from there.

Don't know about the speech, but if they allow supplements & it is truly GREAT, then I think you could go for it. The thing to keep in mind w/ the supplements is they hurt you unless what you send in is absolutely phenomenal, as whatever you send will be sent to the appropriate department. You don't want the English department or whoever the speech will go to to say that it wasn't very good. So keep that in mind. :)

Thanks stambilark. Anyone else?

Anyone? 10 characters
