about the decision of U of Mich

Hi
I'm a international student who applied to U of Mich
I just want to confirm that the decision comes out tomorrow which is April 15th.
I am checking the WA daily but I haven't see the "view decision" button yet.
It worries me so much.

have you got your decision yet?

yes
i just checked WA and saw my decision
im waitlisted for U of Michigan
U of Michigan is my top choice, I am so disappointed.
Waitlist is almost a slow rejection, am I right?

@Thetempest, being wait-listed is not necessarily a rejection but neither an acceptance obviously. It means that they still are taken you into consideration for their class, however they need to see how many admitted students will accept their offer, how many seats they can fill in their entirety and then they’ll contact people on the wait-list. Don’t give up hope and back then when I was a freshman who applied to MIT I was wait-listed and then 5 days later I received a phone call from an AO saying that I was taken off the wait-list and admitted. This shows that anything is possible, but I turned MIT down because there financial aid is/was abysmal. By the way, if something has changed since you last applied like a increase in grades for instance or new information that’s taken place in your life, such as move up in class rank, new test scores etc… than submit them as this will demonstrate an improvement. Plus if you’re really eager to go here than by all means call an admissions officer and discuss your situation.

Best, Dave

Please Help!

what does it mean if i haven’t received any decision at all?

It means your decision is coming out tomorrow

It says in their FAQ that phone calls will not influence their decision. I was tempted to call the office and talk to them about my waitlist until I read that.

The thing is, they say they will notify me by late June, which is way too late. But the thing is, I have nowhere else to go. Michigan is my top place, and without it I’m left in the air.

What should I do? Sitting and waiting until June seems the worst of all.

Deniz

So you have NO other school that you can go to?

Or are you saying that you really want to go to Michigan and no where else?

If the former is the answer you are basically screwed

If the latter is the answer, place your deposit at your next choice school and if Michigan accepts you later, then go to Michigan

The latter is what I meant, panicked wording on my part. Sorry.
My backup is U Pitt, which I will pay the deposit too, but I would MUCH MUCH rather go to Umich. Its my no.1 choice.

But I was wondering, like I said in my post, if I should conduct some form of communication with the admissions office or just sit and wait till June.
I feel like I must do something, write letters, telephone, etc. because waiting for that long and doing nothing just feels wrong.

I’m wondering if its worth sending letters etc, that’s my main query. And if I should so, then what should I say?
