I know that this question might sound ridiculous but I just want to make sure... Would the admission office publicize any part of my application including my essays in certain form without notifying me? My essay is very personal so I don't want anybody to see it other than the adcoms.

You must have heard about what happened last year then...

No I haven't... what happened? I think adcoms are smart enough not to release private infos about students that might hurt them if disclosed...

You didn't hear, eh? Admissions decided to release this book, 'If I Wrote It." It was a bunch of admissions essays (rejects) all torn up and changed, to show how the applicants should have written. None of the applicants in the book had been consulted.

You might not remember it because Rupert Murdoch finally put a stop to it, just before publication.

That sounds scary...

Aghhhhhhhh.

My S was contacted by the University for permission to use his essay for a forthcoming publication of exemplary essays. They said they would not use it without his written permission (which he gave).

Hahahaha, tennisdude. That cracks me up :)

And idad, that is so awesome! You must be proud!
