Lo and behold my idiocy...turns out that I sent one of the older versions of my common app essay to chicago. The original ideas are still there, but it's not as organized as my other one and isn't anywhere near as good in my opinion. My question is, and I really need to know this ASAP, would it be at all possible for me to send in the most recent version of my essay, or am I just out of luck? If I were to ask my AO to put in the new one would it reflect negatively upon me (at least, moreso than a subpar essay would?)? Thanks in advance.

I see the Update Your Application part btw, but I'm unsure if I can ask to replace the ENTIRE essay.

Sorry to be responding so late; I am new to this site and only saw your post now.

If you go to your Chicago account, there is a link on the left called “Update Your Application.” Click on that. The instructions specify that “…if you won an award, found that you left a paragraph out of your essay, or want to tell us about a change in your academic program, this form is an appropriate place to do so.”

I don’t know if they’ll consider an entirely different draft of your essay, but I suppose that it’s worth a try. Good luck!

Look, I just joined this website yesterday and realized that my post was very late. However, I thought that I’d offer the help, especially given that motion didn’t specify if he/she was applying early (although I guessed that he/she was); also, it could help people who might pull up the thread in the future. The alternative was to do what everything else did… be quiet and not offer a helping hand.

Really, no one else had figured out how motion could submit the revised version of the essay? Sorry, but I find that hard to believe.
