Academic Acceptance

I tried my best to find the Academics needed for Acceptance at BoCo but couldn’t.

Could someone please brief me on what they are or point me in the right direction?

Thank you so much.

The academic bar to get into BOCO is not very high.

Here, from their website:

What scores do you look for on the SAT or ACT?
SAT or ACT scores are required as part of your application process. However, The Boston Conservatory does not have a minimum score requirement for admission. Scores are used as another tool to evaluate you academically. The Admissions office advises applicants not to stress over these scores and also has no preference as to which test you take.

What is the minimum GPA required for admission?
The minimum requirement for admission is a 2.7 GPA. Poor grades in Math and Sciences are more likely to be forgiven, than poor grades in English and History.

Boston Conservatory - FAQ

Zach
They will rate your audition w/ much more weight than your academics. That being said, my D was able to use her AP scores to opt out of classes thus freeing her up to take some classes she is interested in. Good luck!

If you are a decent student, academics will not be a problem (as it isn't at many of the MT schools - with some exceptions like NYU and Northwestern) Even Carnegie Mellon, which has a strong academic reputation especially in the sciences and technology, weighs their audition as 80% of acceptance. In the conservatory approach, you will have few academic classes - most will be in voice, dance and acting in all their variations.
