Do all incoming freshmen meet with an academic advisor? When do we meet with them? Do we have to register for classes at orientation?

at orientation you get placed into small groups depending on which college you belong to. you will stick with this group for basically all of orientation and you will also register with this group in a computer lab. your student advisor, the leader of the group, will aid you guys in registering. but you don’t necessarily get assigned academic advisors or meet with any. whatever questions you have bring it to the student advisor.

Then when you get to your college in the fall you have that advising. Each college is different. [Here’s CAS’ page on advising.](http://www.bu.edu/cas/students/undergrad-resources/advising/) Note there is also pre-law & pre-med advising.

You will always meet with a faculty advisor after meeting with your student advisor, though. He or she will sign off on the classes you’ve selected and then you go register in the computer lab.

This may sound incredibly stupid but I think I’ve just somehow registered for all my classes… I was playing with the class planner in studentlink and then I clicked on Register, convinced it’s not gonna work, but somehow it did and now the classes show in my Current schedule as registered. How is that possible?
