I had teh highest cumulative scorer in my county, which is quite competetive.

How much of a big deal is this to colleges?

What about highest individual score in state? is that a hook?

National?

depends on how big/prestigious the competition was. it'd help either way.

It can't hurt.

how big/prestiogus the competition was?

are you familiar with academic decathlon?

Ok I'm in academic decathlon so I know how much of a big deal that is. However, I don't know if colleges know how much of a time commitment it is.

I think he was perhaps basing prestige on the level of competition [regionals, states, nationals], though don't get on your high horse that aca deca is some incredible competition that outshines all the others, though nonetheless, having my experience on the team for three years, I do know what a heavy time commitment it is, and that's with not even studying half of the stuff, but yeah, though I had a friend who won overall regionals and took 2nd overall at states, though nonetheless it's a very attractive accomplishment to add on to your applications. By the way, what state are you from? perhaps a more competitive state like CA or TX because then I would say it really means something

what I meant was, for example what county, state it took place in, etc. If it's more highly populated it would probably be weighed heavier than if it was in the middle of nowhere.
