Academic Disqualification Help

I’m in a tough spot and I need some advice from anyone who has gone through something similar to my situation. I’m a Junior transfer student to UCD majoring in Political Science. Fall Quarter I took 12 units. Due to a death in the family I got a D, F and C+. This mean I’m -10.8 points and a GPA of 1.10. Since this was my first quarter I didn’t have any of my other good semesters to cushion my GPA . I went to the deans office and explained my situation. They allowed me to continue I had to take 16 units, the dean also wanted me to reduce my point defecate by 8 points, so I would be -2.8. Unfortunately this quarter didn’t go as expected, I have still been dealing with some issues that the dean’s office was aware of but I just got my grades in: I got a B,C,C- and D. Its a little disheartening since the class I got a C in was the class I knew I was going to get a B, but a bad research score and a 70% participation grade that seemed arbitrary lowed my grade to a C. Point wise the B and D cancel each other out but the C- puts me -1.2 in the hole so my defecate is -12. My comm GPA is 1.57.

Recap
1st Quarter: GPA: 1.10 Points -10.8
2nd Quarter: GPA 1.57 Points -12

Ideally the easiest way to dig myself out of this hole is to retake the classes I failed. I plan on taking them but the F course wasn’t offered during the winter or spring and the D I’m enrolled for the spring. What are my odds of remaining in UCD under probation? The contract I had to sign outlining the 16units and +8point reduction said that failure to meet one of the requirements may lead to being kicked out of school.

Now should the worst happen and I get kicked out of Davis its my understanding that its for 3 Quarters. Does Summer count as a quarter? I also learned about UCD open campus that may allow me to take 8 units a quarter at $300/unit. If I took 8 units in the spring and 8 units in the summer (making up the classes I failed) would I be able to regain admission to UCD early? I also have a Fed loan, I just got paid for spring and its my understanding is that I have 6 months to become a student again before I start getting my loan bills. Will the govt want their money back from Spring right away? I would essentially use all of it to take the classes in Open Campus.

Does anyone have advice or any Ideas on how I can get ahead of this train wreck?

Yes, they count summer as a quarter. When my sister was subject to academic disqualification last year, her advisor said that along with her winter and spring quarter classes, she also had to take summer classes to not only get her GPA back up to a 2.0 but also to get the amount of units for that school year up to the minimum 39 units.
