Academic Interest Essays

Hey, I'm applying RD and I'm a bit thrown by Cornell's second essay question...

The question is something like: how will you use the academic programs at the school your applying to to further explore your intended major?

what type of academic programs are they referring to? Is it just me or does this confuse others as well??

I took it as a chance to show interest/what you'll add to the school.

Well, it asks how you are going o USE the programs yourself. I wrote about what attracted me and why their programs work for me.
I was confused with the first one...i havent sent it in as yet, but ive gotta finish in a few days. Right now, it's about why i developed an interest in biology, but im really unsure...any ideas?

I think why you developed an interest in biology is exactly what they want for the first one. I wrote about my interests in writing, politics and history.

I'm still not sure what programs they're talking about for the second one, though...I'm applying as a government major...does anyone know??

Well, I wrote about research opportunities. Maybe they have special research - type things or work experience opportunities for govt. majors?

cornell in washington...

I wasn't sure if I should mention Cornell in Washington, because the logical conclusion if I say I want to study in DC is that I should go to school in DC...I don't want them to figure out that they're not quite my first choice...

for engineering i wrote about how i like the research opportunities, co-op programs, student project teams, and what i believe the benefits of those programs are....
