Academic-Related Stress?

These past three months have been especially grueling. Trying to balance five courses (One more than is allowed by my school board) and a constantly changing mindset has been taking a toll. There is a huge personal pressure to prepare for a college major that I will like, that will be safe from automation and outsourcing, and that won’t destroy my creativity. The only problem is, I’m burning out and I’m losing interest in doing my work at all. Last semester, I was making honour roll, and suddenly, I’m failing my English class. I got caught plagiarizing my ISP which will permanently scar my record, and I’m dealing with so much missed coursework that I’m losing sleep. Last week, my ex-boyfriend ticked me off in so little of a way, but I struck him to the floor and yelled at a teacher, I got suspended for three days and they’re trying to get me to talk to a psychologist. I honestly have no idea what to do, and what I should do to get back on track. I might just switch schools, but I’m at a crossroads here…

Do look into counseling or seeing a psychologist. If you feel uncomfortable doing so, know that counseling is not just for people with mental illness - it’s for anyone going through a rough time. It can be really helpful just to do some guided introspection and take time for yourself. Also, try to communicate with your teachers that you’re struggling and they may be able to help. I don’t really know a whole lot about your situation, but switching schools should be a last resort, it is not the “restart” you may expect it to be and will add problems. Good luck and hang in there!
