No....those super-low numbers are NCAA standards (the schools set their own standards which are most often higher than that).

Within the last 10 years the best distance runner at our HS in Maine was ranked in the top 10 nationally. The best thrower at our HS was ranked in the top 10 nationally and competed successfully in international Olympic development events. That’s just one high school.

So don’t be too sure.

Consolation is right! There are some good kids coming out of Maine.

Hmmm…I didn’t even think of that. We had an track and field olympian from NH when the games were in Greece. My friend’s son was also a top Maine runner a and got a full DI scholarship in 2007.

Do top scholar/athletes without financial need get any merit or athletic scholarships from IVY’s? Or are you just plain out of luck without need?

Ivy’s (as far as I know) do not give either athletic or merit scholarships. All aid is need based. If you don’t need, then they don’t give.

^^

but top scholar athletes GET IN, which can be debated, is a scholarship in AND OF ITSELF.

GOOD LUCK!

Ivies do not give merit-based aid; just need-based. You can apply for outside merit scholarships.

Keylyme is right- all Ivy aid is need-based. Merit scholarships can come from private organizations, Robert C. Byrd state managed scholarships, etc. The Ivies will offer you the opportunity to fill out information which may match up with a private funding program.

Can you say which Ivies do that? does Yale? do other top schools like Duke?
