Going through academic suspension, has anyone had any success in appealing for reinstatement?
only if you have any medical records to back up your appeal
That’s not strictly true.
Look through this sub forum and you find lots of posts about students who were reinstated. What did they do right? They framed their appeal letters in a way that showed they understood, apologized, and took responsibility for their actions. They gave concrete details as to how they would be successful if reinstated. They outlined a plan to be successful, which might have included plans to cut down socializing, reducing outside work hours, or resolving medical or family issues that caused them to be dismissed or put on academic suspension.

A successful appeal must do several things:
- show that you understand what went wrong
- show that you take responsibility for the academic failures
- show that you have a plan for future academic success
- in a broad sense, show that you are being honest with yourself and the committee
Lots of students get their appeal approved but you might want to ask yourself what will really be different next semester. Presumably you were on probation first and weren’t able to make the needed changes in your performance. Taking a break is not a bad idea. But good luck either way!
