Does he count as an "academic teacher", or would I have to add him as a supplemental recommender? Otherwise, could I have my high school orchestra teacher write me a letter? Please help</p>
<p>Your middle school teacher/ current private teacher is not someone who taught you a high school course, so he or she should be an “other” recommender. For teacher recommenders, you will generally want to choose from your core subject teachers (math, science, social studies, language).</p>
