Academically Stressed

This might sound cliche, but I am very stressed. Not about grades, but about the rigor of my courses and the people around me. I take honors classes, and get the grades I deserve. But when I read about other people and talk to people in school they talk about their course load, their PSAT scores, CRES scores, AP's etc. I'm a Sophomore and not taking any AP classes right now. My friends are taking AP Calc, Alg II, and Pre-Calc. I'm just in Honors Geometry. Their in AP World, I'm in Honors World.

I feel like I'm behind everyone else. I scored low on my PSATs I have a unweighted G.P.A of 3.6, and I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere. I have a long road of becoming a Veterinary Pharmacologist, and I feel like at the state I'm in now, I'll never get there. I feel like everyone is smarter than me, and I feel like nothing. I don't want to rush and take nothing but AP classes next year and fail them. It sounds better coming out your mouth than actually taking the class.

What should I do?

The first thing you have to do is stop comparing yourself to your peers. It doesn’t help you. At all. Everyone is different, learning and comprehending at different paces. Honors classes are better than taking all standard classes. Don’t feel like you HAVE to take every AP course that you possibly can. Take one next year. Take two, or even three if you are feeling bold your senior year. Second, how much do you study for each subject and how often? Finally, you’ll have to take the SAT next year. There are some really good threads that are definitely worth a read in the SAT prep section. Pick up an SAT prep book.(The official CollegeBoard book seems to be the most popular/useful) Start working. If you REALLY want it, everything will come together. Finally, just know, when you are applying to pharmacy school, your high school performance won’t matter, only how you did in college. Use the rest of high school to get your good habits together, because that will help tremendously going into college. Best of luck.

I also stress about my grade.

Hello FantasyVesperia,

Do you know what is the first thing that came to my mind when i read your post? You sound just like my daughter. She used to always say this sort of thing. Lately though, she has started to take things easy and now she is more relaxed and can actually achieve higher grades. What I am going to recommend you is to maybe do breathing exercises. That helped my daughter far more than anything else. She got them from somewhere on internet. I will ask her exactly what’s the name of the website and I will try to post it here. Stressing out will not make things better, just try your best!

Right, I think this is the website: www.stressintofocus.com , I hope it helps you! I do not really know where in the ebook you can find those exercises, but they were somewhere there according to her! good luck and do not worry!! When we are young we always tend to magnify our problems, when we grow up we learn how small our problems really were and how massive the new ones really are.

Anyway, whatever you do, never compare yourself to others simply because absolutely everyone has had a different life and is therefore completely different from other people. It is pointless. Hope my humble advice helps you.

Thanks! This post was from last semester lol. Thank you guys so much! This really made my night.
