In my reading, I have found that there are Academy Nights (explaining academy life, talking to Blue and Gold Officers, and asking questions). I am wondering how you can find out if, or where, these meetings are?
Anything will help.
Thanks

Most high schools will have college fairs where there will usually be Academy reps. I think that to which you are referring are those which are set up by the local MOC. Call your MOC's regional office and ask for the person who normally handles the SA nomination process. They should be able to help you.

Ditto to what USNA69 said, although I think our area's Academy Day was set up by some combination of the parent's association and the local alumni group (Southeastern PA). Both going as a candidate, and later as a mid, I remember there being a slew of mids, grads, and parents on hand to assist.

The alumni groups with which I am familiar, usually host an annual get together where current mids, parents, and alumni have the opportunity to meet the incoming class and their parents. I have never known an alumni group to routinely host prospective candidates.

Didn't ever remember any presence by the an MOC or their staffer so I double checked....

The one I attended as a candidate:

Our alumni association did also hold a dinner in May where they recognized the candidates selected for NASS, those heading to plebe summer, and finally they also gave out an award for the firstie with the highest OOM from the area....

As an addendum, in the middle of writing this post, I had a vague recollection of several MOCs doing a day for perspective applicants at Valley Forge. Although I found talking to actual mids much more informative, I guess we had the best of both worlds in that respect

It makes sense that some of the chapters in the larger cities are doing it. Thanks for the info.

CGO will usually support the MOC's venue by sending a real live local mid, no matter when it is scheduled.

Talk with your guidance counselor, that's how I found out.

Select 'Admissions' from the dropdown menu for the calendar of upcoming USNA Admissions events:

Our son found out about Academy nights from our Congressman's website. They were in the fall. We went every year of high school. It was very informative. It was there that my son learned about the ROTC scholarship opportunities as well. His guidance counselor was clueless.

It is unfortunate that many guidance councelors do not have a good understanding of the service academies. Hopefully they can guide the candidate to the BGO.
