Weill Cornell has a campus in Doha, Qatar. It teaches an accelerated course in medecine so that instead of taking 8 yrs to get an M.D., it takes only 6 yrs. I got accepted there for this accelerated program. Do you think it is worth going there? Since they've abridged the program, there is very intensive study in the first 2 yrs. Also, I've visited the campus and although the facilities are EXTREMELY good, the city is very boring. Is the fact that the campus is in Qatar going to make a difference when I apply for residency later on?

well yes. It's in a different country. Are you sure that it is a MD degree and not something else?

The thing with medical schools is that other countries do not follow the same undergraduate program like america does. In other countries, after high school you go to medical school, or the school pertaining to your furture profession.

So it wouldn't really be accelerated since, there's really not undergraduate program involved.

bump... does anyone else have anything to say about the cornell medical college in Qatar? I really want to go there but its really risky because I dont have anyone's feedback about the campus, facilities, student body etc...

As forthe MD degree, its the same as the one in the US. They have a 2 year (non degree) pre-med program which mirrors the courses from the Ithica.

It seems like a great opportunity to go and study there, I would do it if I were you.

thanks for the advice ktoto .. anyone here who knows someone who attends the college or has visited/attends the campus?

can you join the program if you live in the us or is for middle east residents only?

GO TO YOUR OWN CORNELL! lol j/k. Yes, you can apply but preference is given to applicants in the gulf region. But since they are also looking for diversity (this is one of the few cases when US citizens are needed for diversity!), i am sure you have a high chance of getting in if you have the required stats.
