Do colleges offer accelerated language study? I really want to learn a new foreign language in college, but I get bored easily in a class that spends two weeks learning one grammar point. I know it probably will be more rigorous than my high school course, but I don't want to waste my time, either. I've heard of some programs that offer, for instance, a year's worth of a language in just three months. Is it typical for universities to offer something like this? I'm having a hard time finding this information.

I don't think it's offered at my college, but I'm sure it exists. You should check for each college you're looking at.

At my school, there is are courses for some languages that basically covers the "basic" and "intermediate" levels (4 semesters worth of language classes) in 2 semesters. So yes, such programs or classes do exist. I know other schools have these as well.

I've seen it at a number of different schools. If it's not formally offered at your college, you can always talk to a faculty member about doing an independent study, or doing it as a winter term / January term project if that's an option.

Mine offers classes taking 4 semesters of a language and letting you finish it in 2. For romance languages you can only do it if you are already "fluent" in another romance language (passed out of 4 semesters). For other languages (Hindi is the only one I know for sure) you can be placed into the accelerated class if you have some background (ability to speak a fair amount, but not fluent).
